- Survey
- Interest in AI at our campus arrived about the same time as the student bot infiltration that has plagued us since Fall 2024. There was a pronounced use of AI in online courses by students that faculty were wholly unprepared for. For the most part, the approach has been diffuse.
- The Ad Hoc Committee on AI were tasked for simply revising the Academic Integrity policy to include the use of AI by students. Once completed the committee disbanded.
- Distance Education has held some workshops regarding AI, mostly in the realm of addressing its use by students in coursework.
- LASC Distance Education Coordinator has been invited to participate in the CVC-OEI AI Train-the-Trainer Community of Practice for Spring 2025.
- LASC Professional Development Committee organized a series of workshops based around the book, Teaching with AI by Bowen and Watson, kicking it off with a personalized workshop led by author Watson. The series was poorly attended.
- The intent is to establish an AI CoP at LASC by Fall 2025 involving faculty, staff, students and admin to develop a foundation for creating a comprehensive approach to AI at LASC.
