  • Purpose
  • We want to create a space for students of all majors and backgrounds to share their interest in engineering and science. We aim to have hands-on projects that can teach us more about engineering and science.
  • Activities
  • We have three projects for this semester. Two will be hands-on and the third will be a research seminar. The two projects we have in mind will be a UAV fixed-wing drone and the second one will be an R/C car from scratch. Potentially we would want to join an R/C competition with the club or take it to a track. The research seminar will be on Artificial Intelligence

  • 🆕Library research guide: 'Chat GPT and Generative AI'. The CHC Library maintains a LibGuide that 'provides a starting place for Crafton Hills College faculty, staff, and students to learn about ChatGPT and generative AI and how to use it responsibly,' authored by adjunct faculty librarian Karol McCool. It explains that generative AI predicts likely word sequences rather than retrieving facts and that the systems 'don't think.' 2026 · high confidencesource
  • 🆕AI guide covers detectors, citation, pros/cons, and classroom use. The same library guide includes sections on Citations with Generative AI (MLA and APA guidance), Pros and Cons of Generative AI and ChatGPT, ChatGPT Detectors & Tips for Detecting, ChatGPT in the Classroom, and a Class Activity. The guide was last updated March 31, 2026. 2026 · high confidencesource
  • 🆕College Corps fellows to advance digital and AI literacy. The San Bernardino Community College District College Corps page (covering Crafton Hills College and San Bernardino Valley College) states fellows will serve to 'tackle our community's most pressing challenges like K-12 education, food insecurity, digital & AI literacy and environmental stewardship,' referencing the 2026-2027 academic year. 2026 · medium confidencesource

  • Instructors have shared some of the work they are doing to help students learn more about AI effective use but nothing formal is in place. Additionally, student services division use AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, GammaAI, etc. but nothing formal. During our In-Service we had a presentation on the history and development of AI to help begin the conversations around building a formal policy.
